Our 5 favourite things about Ibiza

Our 5 favourite things about Ibiza

It's almost impossible to pick just five fantastic things about Ibiza! An archipelago of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea, it is spoilt for climate, natural beauty and resources. The culture, an alluring mix of the best of relaxed southern Spain, with strong influences from northern Africa and India, plus a long established active hippy community, means the island draws an eclectic variety of visitors who come looking to experience their own unique Ibiza.

Beautiful beaches
With its stunning coastline, it is easy to believe that the 80 coves and bays, each known for their singular beauty and warm crystal clear waters, means Ibiza has more beaches per square mile than anywhere else. Ranging from isolated coves approached by rocky paths only accessible by off road vehicles such as hidden gem Cala Llentrisca, to the golden sands of family friendly spots such as Santa Eulalia Bay, to the famous beach clubs where adults can party from day to night such as Blue Marlin, the choice is wide and varied.

Music
It is hard to talk about Ibiza without mentioning the incredible music scene! Even apart from the evolution of the famous house music and EDM scene which has been booming and growing for the past 50 years, the island has an extremely strong musical identity and has been a source of inspiration for artists. Local musicians play at the hippy markets and in the village squares, while the unique style of Balearic reggae is played in the beach bars and markets, in addition to the many concerts played by world famous DJs and musicians in open air venues such as the port and purpose built concert hotels with performance stages and outdoor dancefloors.  Read more about the history of the Ibiza dance music scene here.

Delicious restaurants
The quality and range of Ibiza's food offering is extremely high and hard to beat. A discerning international clientele has seen the rise of a truly first class selection of restaurants, from international names such as Cipriani, to beachside luxe such as El Chiringuito, to the agroturismos, and heritage family run restaurants such as La Paloma specialising in homegrown organic local produce.

Wide range of activities
Far more than just a party destination, Ibiza is a destination for families of all ages, fitness and wellness breaks and back to basics relaxation in quietude. In addition to the usual beach and water activities you would expect to find, there are a plethora of ways to fill your days, including horse riding, hiking, exploring Ibiza town and the many villages, art galleries, hippy markets, wine tasting and many opportunities to involve yourself in the island's creative and artisan communities whether to pick up new skills or merely find out more about this ever evolving side of Ibiza.

Shopping
The shopping in Ibiza is phenomenal! In addition to the three main hippy markets where you can find everything from clothes and accessories to music to locally made arts and foods, there is a huge selection of independent boutiques, stunning furniture warehouses and little pop ups everywhere you go, including most beaches. Save some space in your suitcase to bring back all your holiday purchases!
